Product Description You never thought it would turn out like this - an all-out chase where you're both the hunted and the hunter. Now you must get behind the wheel and risk everything to infiltrate a ruthless international crime syndicate and take them down. The man you're after is a maniac behind the wheel, and he's driving like his life depends on escape, which maybe it does. He's the one with all the answers you need, so track him down. That fleet of police cruisers in your rearview mirror won't make things any easier. It will take all of your experience and every ounce of skill to outrun the law, take down the enemy, and unlock the truth that puts an end to this chase once and for all.

Bugs galore, more of the same - still fun July 4, 2010 Charlie (Michigan USA) Although a lot of people felt Undercover isn't as good as Most Wanted, I felt that Undercover is more of the same, but with some aspects of Most Wanted removed/dumbed down to help move the story along.
However, there are quite a few bugs with Undercover. For one, starting it in Vista 64-bit is awkward. It feels like the game crashed, but it takes awhile to load up. Mapping the controls was also very weird the first time. Something kept moving the menu around and prevented me from setting certain keys. After a few sessions it seemed to correct itself.
The gameplay can get tedious - the missions almost always repeat, with varying levels of police activity.
If you can find it in the bargain bin and really really liked Most Wanted, give Undercover a try. I bought it mainly to see the Maggie Q scenes, but she has very limited scenes and her voice acting isn't all that great.
Not Windows 7 compatable. July 3, 2010 Ron Raffaelli (California) Microsoft Windows 7 compatability web site says that Underground is compatable... NOT SO! It will run, but you have no control and the graphics look like 1990. I have a monster system with Nvidia 1Gb card and a Gigabyte X58A-UD7 motherboard... Intel i7 2.8Ghz, 12Gb RAM and it still sucks.
Not Bad at all!! April 26, 2010 Roderick Powe II (Las Vegas, NV) I dont understand why so many people are trashing this game so horribly...Im glad I took the negative comments at face value because Im glad I bought it anyway.. For [...] bucks its not a dealbreaker anyway.
Personally the gameplay in concern of steering and driving seems more inline with how a real car behaves...Most Wanted was awesome, but the driving was very arcade like and at many points farfetched and unrealistic. It seems like Undercover was aimed at a more real-life angle, less arcade and a little more like simulation driving. The car behavior has small details that an intense gamer might get annoyed with, like hitting a wall or another car will momentarily lock the cars steering like real cars, and bring it back, the bluriness effect is actually worse in Most Wanted than this game, and the use of nitrous in this game will make it seem less like a supernova in comparison to Most Wanted but I like the changes. I'll admit the cop chases were alot more challenging and adrenaline pumping in Most Wanted, in this game cop chases/getaways are the easiest part of the whole game. Also the storyline is a little like a snoozefest, but nothing to make me regret even playing it.
The game was so cheap anyway so its not horrible, I like the attempt in a more "life-like driving simulation" there are alot of moments where it works, to all those reading the bad reviews Its not as bad as people make it out to be, I ignored the 1-2 star reviews and It's not the end of the world lol. Im glad I bought it.
Need Less Speed March 5, 2010 MusicLover (tucson, az) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a hard game for a man over 50 to beat. I don't like a game I can't win. Why don't these race games offer a beginner level? I hate that the cops will always bust you just when you're driving around. What a pain. But the graphics are good and the rest of the game play isn't bad.
Not Worth It February 12, 2010 Andrew Cole (Oak Harbor, WA) I bought a brand new laptop with a 2.2 GHZ Intel core 2 duo T6600, 4 GB RAM, and an Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics card. I had no racing games, so I bought NFS Undercover. With every graphics option at minimum/off, it's still a bit glitchy during anything more than cruising in low traffic. By then the graphics are falling to average for a PS2, so it kinda sucks for me. It looks pretty good with everything turned up, but becomes unplayable with my laptop.
As for the game itself: The story line is decent. The real video cutscenes are nice. The driving realism is non-existant. The cars DO NOT handle like real cars. The opponents are sometimes too easy, sometimes too hard. Rarely a good match. Car prices are obviously made up to match their "tier" in the game, for example- a stock Mitsubishi EVO does NOT cost over $100k. The police chases are rediculous. For some reason, when I drive my fully upgraded Nissan GTR at over 200 mph, the (stopped) Chevy Tahoe police suv I just passed will be ramming me into the guardrail within 10 seconds. Last time I checked, no one has EVER made a Tahoe go over 200. Once the police get to you, they can push you around as they please, regardless of the vehicle types.
Finally, getting started was flat out stupid. Installation requires that you read and accept THREE DIFFERENT LEGAL AGREEMENTS. Each one is huge and pretty much says that if you do anything but play the game you face penalties. EA has diappointed me in the past, and this game is prime example that they're not trying to fix it.
