The 3D Graphics are very well done. The plane shaking apart is really intense. Explosions are quite detailed.

Well its been years since this series began. As the expansions increase the epicness of the game expands ;). This exapansion adds more playable aircraft and has all the previous expansions. From IL 2 original to pacific fighters. Also adds the 1946 expansion as stated in the name(and on the back of the box) also adding more than just cancelled aircraft or rare ones it adds more late fighters of the era. Aircraft ranging from 44-46(years). Though this game doesn't make all aircraft plyable there is over 200+ planes to fly in! Easy controls though moderate for beggining pilots ;). Also there is a common mod called Unified installer on the modding site called AAA(all aircraft arcade) which dedicates itself and its modders to modding the game. Unified installer adds most of the unplayable aircraft (such as b17's b 24's and more) to be playable. For the vanilla game itself adds more than 1946 it adds 3 more expansions which makes this game more than you bargain for. 6 or 7 games in all! I recommend this to all people that love aircraft ww2 sims.
note in order to download Unified installer you will need to have the game itself patched to 4.08. If you get the regular version its in 4.07. So, just download the patch,unified installer and enjoy :).

First off, I love this game. Just how realistic it is, the enormous amount of planes, and theres also a mod you can download that basically doubles the amount of planes. Still has a thriving community (you need to download hyperlobby to see people playing and join games and servers)
Just one thing, on Amazon it's priced at 18$, yet, you can buy it off Steam for 10$ digitally all the time. I'm not saying it isn't worth 20$(because it is) just find things cheaper when you can in these times.

I have heard alot about this game as it is talked about on almost every flight sim website. What I didn't hear was how hard it was. I am a fairly avid flight simulator enthusiest. I have the expensive joysticks, flight yoke and pedals to seal the deal. My next investment is a flight panel and motion chair. Now granted I only played this game for about 20 minutes. But for that 20 minutes, it was the most difficult simulator I have ever played. The options are very limited on difficulty adjustments and I was almost drawn away from playing it. Each new game is a learning experience. This game is not technology hard, as there is not advanced radar, or aircraft features to turn on and off. But the flight characteristics is crazy. I will continue to try this game, and hopefully be able to shoot down someone in the future.
The graphics are amazing, and the realizm is off the charts. It has the most online multiplayer support in the genre and all the websites to back it up. As well as plently of DLC aircraft to keep the game alive. If you would like to buy it, do it but be ready for a challenge the first few flights.
