Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars An Excellent Game   April 8, 2010
Cleat C. Roberts (USA)
This is an excellent game! Not only do you get to do some really cool farming but you also get to use actual John Deere equipment.

Let me say to the action oriented caffienated monkeys: this game is not that type of game AT ALL. This is an RTS style game that is most similar to a city building game. Only main difference is that instead of building and managing a successful city you have to build and manage a successful farm. It should also be noted that the farm is the conventional factory farm type. The game is geared towards the mega-sized farms on several hundred acres.

When you buy this game make sure to get the latest patch as it will definately help with bugs. Although, the patch doesn't fix all of them, the game is stable enough. I've played it already for several hours and had it crash only is a specific situation involving the gator vehicle. That situation is easily avoidable. Other than that it ran fine.

The only other problem about game play I noticed is that the mouse drags across the screen a bit slower than I would like (but this could be due to my old video card). Still a mouse speed option would have been nice. You can't multiple select workers in this game but it doesn't matter because you wouldn't ever need to.

I played the first game in this series, John Deere American Farmer, and this game is definately an improvement. You get 5 different cash crops you can grow, 5 different kinds of livestock, and an expanded list of equipment you can buy. There is also a commodities market that fluctuates and the equipment and buildings have realistic price tags. So this game gives a pretty decent view of what being a big agribusiness is like. You have to be smart about your money and the market and you have to be patient. When you get your produce ready, you have to sell at the right time to get the best price.

If you like good old finger picking style country music with banjos, mandolins, guitars, lap-guitars, and the fiddle, then you'll love the music in this game. In one hour of gameplay, I didn't hear a track played twice. And the music is very well done. Sometimes, I think I hear some definate country classics, but I'm not completely sure because I don't know if they would have wanted to pay for the rights to use them. Even so, there are some country riffs or phrases that are used again and again throughout the industry and these common phrases are in the music in this game. All of the music is instrument.

The big bonus, is that if you're sick and tired of violent games and want something to play for a bit after a long day of work you can sit down and relax to some great music and play with big boy toys.

Kudos to the game maker!

4 out of 5 stars shut up it was an impulse.   October 20, 2009

its a game and impulse buy.it is oddly addictive and fun though.
get the patch at the comp website so it stops crashing.
think i`m up to like $11 million on my farm.
the best is when you work your family until they can`t spend another minute on your farm.if only that was real.
