Once in a while, a great bad-a$$ man-game comes along! July 30, 2010 Axle F. (California) I am not being sarcastic! This game is awesome! I had played the original Just Cause, and was not that impressed, because it was a buggy game... Just Cause 2 on the other hand is about as good as a free-roam game gets... Non linear, little to no bugs or glitches, just plain old mindless man fun without a deep time wasting plot... They spent all their time on in game graphics and gameplay, instead of cut-scenes like a lot of other game companies seem to be focusing on. SO this is a very polished game.
If you want a great story line and sweeping cinematics... Go watch a chick flick... This is just pure fun, a shooter, a sandbox, a driving game, and a platformer all thrown into one. Hundreds of nicely detailed vehicles, endless enemies, and faction missions to play out, BEAUTIFUL GRAPHICS!! I have not seen a game this good looking in a long time (better than Crysis!), the mountains cast shadows across the land and everything in it, there are realistic weather patterns and lighting (sun sets actually make me stop and go WOW!), the islands truly feel "Alive" (I had a friend think I was watching a documentary or a movie when Rico was standing on a mountaintop looking out over the landscape with the setting sunlight reflecting off the tropical water)... You can blow up tons of stuff, do insane stunts, complete missions your own way you see fit. I've hung cars from helicopters and bashed them into a low flying jet fighter, or hang a bit of scenery from the back of your truck and use it as a big flail to take out the bad guys... Or throw a bunch of bombs on a fast car and run it full force into an enemy camp, then jump out with the parachute at the last second to fly all action hero style through the resulting fireball, shooting bad-guys all the while in the air.
I created a fun party game out of this, get a few people over and see the most outrageous stunt or amount of destruction you can pull off in a certain time limit... There is a lot of "Holy shi- dude! Did you freaking see that! That was awesome!"
The only drawback is the steam activation required to play this game, but in all honesty, steam makes things a bit easier with updates and Down-Loadable-Content and not requiring the CD every time you want to play, so all I gotta do is log onto my steam account on my other computers and I can play it there with no CD as well and it even works offline!
I honestly cannot find anything to pi$$ and moan about with this game other than I hope square releases an expansion or a lot more DLC for it... Because this is one of the few games I think deserves the money I paid for it. I think I have played through it about 5 times already and still have not even got near 75% complete.
adictive game! July 5, 2010 Andreas Born (Clermont, Florida United States) cant stop playing the game. Uncomplicated and full of action. Love the creative solutions for playing the game. Planes hard to control.Everything else controls fine.
BAD LANGUAGE AND MASSIVE KILLINGS June 25, 2010 Danny R. Mckinley (blue ridge, tx) 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am in a way disapointed to the trend to make ultimate cussing and violence games.
I expected this to be a lot more fun and a lot less brutal.
I am going to review my choices in the future.
This trend to be the most extreme voilent and massive language is terrable.
I wouldn't purchase this type of a game again.
They made it that way "Just Cause" they can.
I am sorry I purchased this one.
PC users BEWARE June 21, 2010 C. Seitz 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have the demo of this game on ps3 and it runs very smoothly. However I recently purchased this game for the PC big mistake. I have windows 7 64bit with a intel core 2 quad processor 2.66 ghz a nividia GT 220 with 1024 MB and 8 gigs of ram and gameplay is still choppy on the lowest display settings. So unless you have an i7 processor I would strongly advise getting this for the ps3 or xbox 360 instead. Awesome game though.
Valve or Steam is too much trouble for any game. June 6, 2010 R. Phil Black (UT, USA) 1 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have finally been able to install the game and I have not played it yet. All you get on your purchased cd or dvd is a STEAM installation. To actually install the game you use the STEAM software and give your registration number to them. Then they will give you a 5 hour download in order to install the game. This has violated the fair access policy of my internet provider. If I wanted to download this game I would not have gone through the trouble of purchasing the jewell case product. No matter how fun the game itself is, I plan to boycott all games that utilize STEAM. STEAM has it's own very slow browser and turns a simple game install into a major time consuming nightmare. I really hate STEAM!
