1 out of 5 stars Another Diablo clone, from the people who made diablo   July 21, 2010

This game may seem fun at first, but when you get into it and get down under the surface, it's just a clone of a VERY monotonous, storyless Diablo for kids. There's nothing impressive about it, see enemies, kill them, get random loot, sell loot, buy more stuff, and continue. That's all there is to it. The characters are forgettable, there's no reason to be IN the game as that character, the "classes" are typical melee, ranged, and magic. This game breathes a breth of stale air on a genre that's been done to death.

I'd NEVER recommend this game to anyone with any thirst for a good game.

4 out of 5 stars A straight forward and fun Dungeon Crawler   July 20, 2010
Will Kalif (Massachusetts)
Great price for a fun and addictive game. I play and own all the RPG style games and pretty much enjoy them all. This one is pretty straight forward in that there are no complex quests or long series of conversations. (Very reminiscent of Dungeon Siege) although not quite as good. Just crawling your way through lots of dungeons with lots and lots of baddies to bring down. There are points where you are literally assaulted by 50 or more monsters and you start unleashing all kinds of aoe spells and the fun really ratchets up. Fun to hit that kind of action and leave a mess behind where you just mop up by collecting all the gold, weapons and armor they dropped.
Couple of nice things about this game are the amount of stuff you can collect. I really enjoy collecting armor, weapons, gems and what not. I enjoy looking it over and weighing the various enchants and stats to improve my character. And this game has the absolute most. There is a lot of it.
You also get to tinker around with transmuting gems and other objects which is fun. As you collect up gems you can upgrade them in a string of upgrades to make them better and more effective. They give you various stats like +fire damage or health recovery. That's a nice aspect of the game.

If you are looking for a dungeon crawler that is a lot of battling with only a basic story line then this game is for you.

4 out of 5 stars The Vanquisher is Hot   May 16, 2010

When I got this game, I wasn't sure if I would like it because I had read that it was a hack and slash type RPG. However, I did end up liking it a great deal. The gameplay is very enjoyable. I never played any of the Diablo games, but what this game reminds me of is the old-school Gauntlet game (but much improved of course) and Neverwinter Nights. I'm looking forward to Diablo 3 when it comes out, but for now I'm enjoying playing Torchlight. I think my son will enjoy playing this as well.
