Forget it! August 19, 2010 Harry Littell (Sacramento, CA USA) This modem is by now maybe 3-4 years old. I got mine from a deceased uncle and replaced a Speedstream DSL router from AT&T (at the time SBC). If I had to choose between AT&T modems, I would consider this one far more dependable, though a bit slower, than the current AT&T 2-Wire 2701HG-B. Plus the wireless is useless.
Even so, my advice is don't buy either of them.
You don't need an AT&T DSL router to connect to AT&T. Consider an Actiontec GT724WGR instead. It is a far superior modem and much more reliable. In fact, there is no comparison. Don't waste your money on this 2-Wire modem.
Wireless Modem February 3, 2010 Vaughn G. Stewart (O.C., CA) With Verizon this unit could not be used. I waisted my money. My tech guy said it was an older generation unit, don't be fooled unless you know. Caution!!
Easiest Modem December 28, 2009 A. R. Barasch (Saint Louis, MO USA) I bought this modem for a technology inept family member and have been totally pleased. In a year, have not received any midnight phone calls. I have used at home for several years and would buy another if the need arose.
2-wire home portals October 11, 2009 suzanne flanderka (san diego, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had 2 2-wire home portals since I got my AT&T DSL and I gave 1 away to a friend when I got a new PC. Both home portals are fantastic and I can't imagine anything better. I won't get cable internet because it's not compatible with the 2-wire home portals. I'm on my 3rd computer and the last is a very powerful desktop. Just connected to the network and added my new PC's code into it and voila, it works. I am in a rest home recuperating and all the people here can see my network, but can't connect to it because of the encryption. Love that in today's world. Takes any speed and can add any amount of PC's I want. Can't live without it.
